Rekindling the arts

spaceballIt has been suggested that there is a sudden creative growth in people, as trying to tighten the purse string people and scramble to create or come up with new ways to entertain themselves.

Accident and Emergency wards have a sudden influx as people have taken to DIY. Yet the positive side is that artists out there are on the increase as well as the rate of art being sold.

London galleries are being visited more frequently with people of all types showing an interest from poor to rich English to African.

Lets just hope that as we rise from the recession we drag with it a new passion for art never seen before and the emergence of true talent unlike Tracey Emins “stained bed sheets”

It has also been reported that the price of art is lowering making it more accessbile to all in a recent article from the New York times it said.

Companies in trouble sell whatever can raise them money, and art collections are but one more asset. Arthur Andersen, the accounting firm brought down by the Enron scandal, for instance, turned two floors of its Chicago offices into a gallery showroom in 2002, selling more than 2,000 art works over a five-day period. In 2006, the New York futures broker Refco Inc., which filed for bankruptcy protection the previous year while under investigation for hiding $430 million in debt, sold 321 photographs for $9.7 million at Christie’s auction house over a three-day period.

BYOB

“Cheaper and more popular” music to my ears

Something which is always a winner for me when choosing a curry house is whether you can bring your own alcohol or not. As that is always the price of the drinks which causes getting the bill  to be a major dampener after a good night of food and drink.

it can save you quite a bit of money. Restaurants frequently charge diners triple what they’ve paid for a wine

Its a wel known fact that you could probably get a cheap half decent bottle of wine for the same price you would get one glass of in a restaurant. So if you estimate that you would drink a couple of bottles with a meal with the average a wine bottle having of 6 glasses to it then do the maths even with the cheaper wine being five pounds a glass two bottles works out to a staggering sixty pounds!!!

BINGO

Money what do you mean no money we all know where it is at if we want it with some much needed excitement and friendly banter. Its at the Bingo hall…..

It has been reported that since the recession began people have begun to flood the seats and wave their arms in the air at two fat ladies. It could be that they are winning cash to make up for what they are lossing as with the prices being onlya few quid a game for members and no where near as much as you would pay for even the simplest activites such as renting a couple of DVD’s and a pizza in .Only recently A woman from Rochdale has just won over £80,000 at Gala Bingo. Or is it the escapism that it gives them or the fact that there are more old people. Who knows really but whatever the reason is I am thinking of going for it big time getting me a troop of bingo winged hommies and heading down the hall on a weekely basis, just watch this space I will be a millionaire before you know it

Less bling… probably a good thing

The recession has caused so many people to cut back on what they love and what do rappers love more then there bitches an hoes.. yep their bling. That shiny, jewley, look how much money I have got come rob me look has been filling the glossies for as long as I can remember. It is a massive status symbol which hangs from round MC Hammers neck to coating your teeth like Lil Wayne.

However with cut backs they are having to put a halt on the shine an I to be honest let out a sigh of relief at this. It isn’t just big name rappers as well we have the J R clad fashion girls from the estates having to hold back from getting their hands on the new Playboy medallion. An I can see the difference already as the world thanks to the recession is becoming a better more pleasant to look at place.

However if you are still craving the respect of ya bredrins you can always do it on a budget….

Someones has to benefit

Sometimes people have already said what you want to…

More companies benefitting from the recession go look

The article suggest that through three stages certain companies will benefit through the recession:

  • Becoming King of the world
  • Buying up value
  • Internal investment

Healthy recession

Growing your own vegetables at home, walking that extra mile to work to save petrol, family days out consisting of playing in the forest or walking the dog instead of shopping trips and resteraunt cost nothing. All products of the recession and what does this amount to… yes what the government have been forcing on us with unfunny Plasticine adverts, health.

Though this is a bit of a controversial point and the Torie Shadow Health secretary was just disciplined for the statement

‘Recession’s good for us – we smoke, eat and drink less’

Yet to me what he was saying made complete sense with the recent focus on people giving up cigarettes for the people who were not so bothered about health the allure of saving money by not buying them was attractive. As well as weekends out drinking going out the window in an attempt to hold on to money a little longer.

Moreover computer games sales are down which means less children are going to be just sat in front of the computer they are forced to go outside and user there imagination as well as energy.

In times of hardship Angels emerge

Watch this video here and restore your faith in humanity. In times of desperation people tend to pick up on the scavengers the ones who want a quick way out at the expense of anyone else.

However if you look a little closer at society the diamonds begin to shine the link above is a video showing how a college in America have been given a huge anonymous donation. In the article it reads;

In recent weeks, at least nine American universities have received donations of well more than $1 million each from anonymous donors, the Associated Press reported. The donations ranged in size from $1.5 million for the University of North Carolina-Asheville to $8 million for Purdue University in Indiana.

Many of the donations have been thought out given to to places such as schools that are on the brink of failing with no asking of any praise.

One example is at the University of Southern Mississippi they received $6 million from an anonymous donor in March it came just at the right moment as they where failing.

This is why the term “recession angels” has been coined by the media to explain these people, which is by far more plesant than hearing about the “Money moguls”.

Obama

I d0nt know how I managed to miss it but as I sat back an watched the news pondering the recession fascinated by how it seems to have infected everything around us Obama appeared on the screen. And I relasied even he the recently elected president has in some part the recession to thank for his success. It gave him something to focus on and rile the people up for also highlighting to the country that there needed to be a drastic shake up in the system.

He is stilll giving passionate interviews on the subject where he gives clear concise answers as on reporter put it he

Barack Obama has been more critical of corporate America than any recent President

It also gave the presidentel election a chance to skim over certain laws that he enforced that people missed, which may have made people feel differently. As well as giving him some sort of hero auora. It even made elections more importnat to people as many people, guiltyly I was once one of them, are not aware of how the government is affecting them making elections unimportant howere this certinally wasn’t the case with the last election which become a media circus and made me more thankful that at least Obama has a plesant face.

Chairtable behaviour

There is one area where you can always get a job and they will always be needed. An that is for charities and as people are loosing jobs it is something they have began to talk to, I would like to say to give back to the world what they have taken. But it is no doubt more likely that they want to improve there curriculum vitae for when the next job boom approaches.

Also people have been visiting charity shops more in the hopes of a bargain especially in Shropshire and Flintshire

An if any of this has made you think of giving something back to society maybe just a few hours a week between shopping, eating or drinking take a look at the Oxfam website where they have loads of ways you can get involved.

Your one of us, your one of us….

Whilst doing this blog as you may have noticed I tend to get a little distracted by allot of the comical articles out there and make weak links. All keeping in the theme of being positive,  so I felt like I should step back and remind myself why I wanted to write this. There was an obviously an objective point yet I feel if you scratch the surface of anything you tend to find something of your beliefs reflected in every action you take.
An I think I know what mine was, I personally have a passion for class divides I am a true supporter of wanting the lower classes to rise and be respected as humans not “chavs” or “white trash”.
An I feel as the recession deepens the under belly beginning to rise to feel in a position that isn’t totally below all others. As business men have to stoop to our level to feel what it is like to have to rely on the government for hand outs and walk in to the dole office eyes down feeling everyone else’s bore in to you as you have something to be ashamed of. In a world obsessed with money what are you without it? The recession to me felt like a equaliser like when the snow covered London people begin to share a more collective consciousness and become more respectful of everyone. I hope this is something which carries on even as we rise out.

The lower classes are something to be joked about, looked down on and treated as something that needs to be fixed

It makes me think back to when the new immigration minister Phil Woolas was instated and accused by the Muslim community of racist slurs, all of which was a load of rubbish of course. He highlighted in his speech as no other person in his political position before had  saying

:’Among the groups who are missing out and who suffer genuine discrimination is the white teenage underclass.

‘Such people are fashionably dismissed as “chav scum” or “trailer trash”.

Too hear this was such a refreshing change it was the only statement I had ever heard from anyone in a political position that I wanted to discuss with friends and family in a positive light.

Alistar Darling in the G20 Summit has declared that benefits will be increased so people can keep up with day to day payments. An no thought people on council estates may not need to pay of there moorgate book the next holiday they still need to make sure that there children get their new school uniform or that they can pay for the ever rising electricity bills.

Lets hope this time though the new scheme goes through as many other aimed at people with benefits tend to fail.

An overall lets hope that people realise that money is money and its something you aren’t born with yet more importantly something that allot of is not really needed to be happy.
